My child has difficulty with the Dutch language

My child has difficulty with the Dutch language

Does your child have trouble with the Dutch language? That can be difficult. It can affect how your child feels and how they do in school. The earlier you start with language, the better. Talking in your own language at home also helps. Starting with language early ensures that your child will later be better able to participate at school and with other children.

What can you do?

What can you do?

Conversation with your network

Talk to other parents or family members. They may have experience with children who have difficulty with language. They can give tips on what you can do at home.

Language stimulation at home

Talk a lot with your child. Read books together, play language games or go to the library. This way your child will learn more words. This helps at school and in your own language at home.

The Language House and Reading Express

There are programs that can help your child with language. For example, the Language House Whether the ReadingExpress. They help children who have difficulty with reading and writing. This help is available at school as well as at home.

The Children's Telephone

Is your child embarrassed or afraid to talk? Then your child can contact De Kindertelefoon. There they can talk to someone safely and anonymously.

What do we do?

What do we do?

Does your child continue to have difficulty with language? Then we would like to help you. Together we will find a program that suits your child.
