I have difficulty balancing school and free time

School, homework, tests, sports, friends, social media... Sometimes it seems like you have to think about everything at once. Maybe you feel like you're always late with everything, or that you don't really get anywhere. Many young people have this. Fortunately, there are ways to get more rest, without giving up everything you enjoy.

What can you do?
What can you do?
Talk to your mentor or someone at school
You don't have to solve it alone. Talk to your mentor, a teacher or someone at school. Sometimes small adjustments will help, such as a different schedule or fewer tasks at once.
Get help from your parents or guardians
Maybe your parents think everything is going well, while you feel stressed. Talk about how you experience it. Not as a complaint, but as something you can look at together. Often parents are willing to help if they know what's going on.
Talk about it with others
You are not the only one who finds this difficult. Ask friends or classmates how they combine school, sports, work and free time. You might get new ideas or feel less alone.
Help through the family doctor or POH Youth
Are you unable to get an overview? Or do you notice that the stress is wearing you down? Then you can contact the Praktijkondersteuner Jeugd (Youth Caregiver) through your doctor. They are there for young people like you and think with you about how you can find more peace in your day.
