My child is affected by our (impending) divorce

My child is affected by our (impending) divorce

Divorce is often difficult for children. Arguing or tension at home can make them sad or scared. As a parent, it is important that you remain sympathetic. Tell your child clearly what is going to change. That way they know where they stand.

What can you do?

What can you do?

Conversation with your network

Talk to people around you, such as family or friends. Maybe they know divorce up close. They can give tips or just listen. This will help you and your child.

Work together as parents

Try to work well together as parents, even when things are difficult. Talk to each other about what is good for your child. Agree on how to do that together. In this way the situation remains clear and safe for your child. Tips can be found here.

Programs for children

There are special groups and programs for children with divorced parents. There they learn to talk about their feelings. They find that they are not the only ones. An example is Villa Pinedo.

The Children's Telephone

Does your child feel uncomfortable talking or embarrassed? If so, he or she can contact The Children's Telephone. There, your child can talk anonymously to someone who will listen.

What do we do?

What do we do?

Is the tension persisting and can't work it out together? Then we like to think along with you. Together we will look for help that suits your child. Note: we do need permission from both parents.

We also offer groups for children or for parents together with their child. In ourcalendarsee when the meetings are.
